Meet the Artists Behind the Dolls: Your Favorite Sister x FCC
We’re thrilled to introduce the creative minds behind our latest bag collaboration: Your Favorite Sister, a lesbian-owned doll customization studio bringing childhood dreams and gothic girlhood fantasies to life.In this special spotlight, Sophia and Madeline—co-founders, artists, and real-life soulmates—share their story, pop culture references, and advice for young creatives. This is for the girls who never stopped playing, imagining, and believing in the power of tiny worlds.
✿ Who Are You?
Sophia and Madeline of Your Favorite Sister:
We’re a small, lesbian-owned business built for doll girls, by doll girls. We specialize in custom dolls, doll-inspired fashion, and accessories that honor the weird, beautiful nostalgia of girlhood. Madeline is the artist behind the brush, painting each doll by hand, while Sophia brings her deep love for dolls and storytelling into the process. Together, we create twin “mini-me” dolls and bespoke characters for our dreamy, horror-loving audience.
The “sister” in our name? It’s a nod to us both being the oldest daughters in our families—and to the bond we build through shared creativity and soft rebellion.
✿ How Did It All Start?
Sophia:
I come from a long line of doll girls. My grandmother and mother are both collectors, and some of my happiest childhood memories involve flipping through doll encyclopedias and choosing favorites. Though I studied to become a teacher, our doll hobby grew into something bigger—especially while I was on bedrest with our second baby. Now it’s our full-time dream.
Madeline:
I’ve been drawing since I was eight. My obsession started with Tokyo Mew Mew, passed to me on a school bus, and never stopped. I wasn't allowed dolls growing up—my mom was scared of them! But Sophia gave me my first one, Kirsten, and it changed everything. Now, transforming my art into holdable dolls is the most magical thing I could imagine.
✿ What Inspires Your Art?
We’re deeply influenced by theintersection of girlhood and horrorin pop culture:
Think Flowers in the Attic,Interview with the Vampire,Twin Peaks,Carrie,Pearl,Yellowjackets… paired with music by Ethel Cain and Nicole Dollanganger.
We embrace the “creepy doll” trope—because sometimes, being a girl justisa little creepy.
✿ Favorite Project So Far?
Definitely our Yellowjackets dolls! We made them in celebration of the new season, and we were blown away when cast members actually adopted some. It was surreal and so meaningful to share our love for the show with its creators.
✿ Any Advice for Fellow Creatives?
“Make something you’re obsessed with—and your people will find you, even if it’s weird.”
That’s our motto and our truth.
